iZO Cleanse FAQ

What if I’m hypoglycemic?

*The iZO Cleanse is especially formulated with very low sugar content, so it is unlikely that one will get hypoglycemia. That being said, every body is different. Here are some signs of hypoglycemia: Headache, inability to concentrate, sweating, intense hunger, dizziness, paleness, irritability, sweating, jitteriness, weakness. Usually these are relieved by eating or drinking. You need to understand your body. Sometimes people may be under stress and actually be having a panic attack but think it is hypoglycemia. Also, medications may cause hypoglycemia, so please make sure we know if you are on any meds or if you are diabetic. As always, anytime you are feeling challenged, relax and breathe slow, deep breaths from the abdomen. Slow breathing actually changes your physiology to calm you down.

What if I’m generally constipated?

*If you’re generally constipated, take more laxative and/or get a colonic! Do an enema.

What if I’m nauseous while cleansing?

*While nausea isn’t the most common side effect from cleansing, it does happen and is not something to be necessarily alarmed about. Often times the body is so toxic that it reacts to the pure goodness that you’re ingesting into you by purging itself in drastic forms. However if you puke more than once, you should pause and re-assess the situation. Are you allergic to any foods? Try and figure out which drink is causing the nausea. Please call us right away, toll free at (866) 961-2139.

What if I’m not having bowel movements while cleansing?

*Take more laxative and/or get a colonic! Or do an enema even a coffee enema. This will make you feel better.

What if I have headaches on the cleanse?

*Minor headaches are not uncommon on any cleanse. Often times it is the sign of a person detoxing from caffeine. The remedy? Take more laxative, and/or get a colonic, or do an enema.

What is a healing crisis?

*A healing crisis occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate than they can be properly disposed of. The more toxic one’s bodily systems are, the more severe the detoxification, or healing crisis. It is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during the cleansing or detox process which may be mild or severe. You may feel worse and therefore conclude that the treatment is not working. But these reactions are instead signs that the treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances. Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately — or within several days, or even several weeks, of a detox. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last several weeks. If you are suffering from a major illness, the symptoms you experience during the healing crisis may be identical to the disease itself. Sometimes discomfort during the healing crisis is of greater intensity than when you were developing the chronic disease. This may explain why there may be a brief flare-up in one’s condition. Often the crisis will come after you feel your very best. Most people feel somewhat ill during the first few days of a cleanse because it is at that point that your body dumps toxins into the blood stream for elimination. With a more serious condition there may be many small crises to go through before the final one is possible. In any case, a cleansing and purifying process is underway, and stored wastes are in a free-flowing state.

Can I cleanse while pregnant or breast-feeding?

*Women should NOT cleanse if they are pregnant or breast-feeding because the toxins that are kicked up due to the cleanse can easily pass into the bloodstream or breast milk.

Are there any conditions under which I should NOT cleanse?

*Although cleansing is generally good for helping most bodily conditions, there are certain instances when cleansing is not recommended: * Women should NOT cleanse if they are pregnant or breast-feeding because the toxins that are kicked up due to the cleanse can easily pass into the bloodstream or breast milk. * One should not cleanse if you are losing weight to a disease. * We strongly recommend cleansing under the supervising care of a licensed physician if one has the following diseases or conditions: 1. Type 1 Diabetes, Advanced heart, liver or kidney disease 2. Advanced stages of cancer or AIDS 3. MCAD deficiency 4. Bulimia or Anorexia 5. Taking prescription medication Again, we’re not saying you shouldn’t cleanse your body if you are experiencing these conditions, but we are strongly advising that you do so under a physician’s supervision.

What are the dangers in cleansing?

*As with all things in life, there can be a down-side to cleansing.
1. If you are pregnant or have any disease, please consult a physician before undergoing any cleanse.

2. There is always a possibility that someone can be allergic to a food that is in the iZO Cleanse, so make sure you read the program guide which lists all the ingredients. All ingredients are vegan, organic, raw, and gluten-free, but occasionally there is someone that is allergic to something like cayenne pepper.

3. If the bowels are not kept moving regularly with a healthy laxative, there is the danger of autointoxication, or self-poisoning. Often times this happens from a clogged intestinal tract. But when a person is cleansing, they are kicking up all the toxins, many of which have been dormant for some time. Without the aid of solid food and precious coffee to stimulate peristalsis, it can be challenging to have proper bowel movements needed to eliminate the toxins that are being drawn out by the cleanse. If the toxins are not eliminated through bowel movements, they will merely get re-absorbed into the blood stream. To combat this, make sure you take your laxative, and get a colonic!

4. Finally, there’s a condition we have dubbed Macrobulimia, where the person caught in the throes of this condition experience the phenomenon of binging and purging much like bulimia, except on a long term basis. This can be in the course of a day, or it can be over the course of a longer period of time, extending as long as months at a time for each cycle to occur. Essentially, the person starts to abuse the cleanse by using it as a license and excuse to eat poorly when they’re not cleansing. The idea is that ‘I can eat and drink all I want and it’ll all be good because I’m going on the cleanse next week.” Then the next week after you cleanse, you binge it all back on, perhaps in the name of celebration for having done the cleanse. It can turn into a vicious cycle of up and down which can be rather harsh on the body’s constitution. If you find yourself abusing the cleanse in such a way, immediately stop the cleanse and begin to eat healthy foods until you are able to use the cleanse as it is designed to be used.

What’s the best way to exit a cleanse? What do you recommend as far as food?

*The best way to exit a cleanse is in gratitude for the amazing gift you’ve given yourself. As for solid foods, we recommend that you begin with vegan soups such as Vegetable Broth or Cucumber Watercress, or Gazpacho soup. Then we recommend that you move onto a light salad. All ingredients should be organic as much as possible. And we recommend eating vegan or vegetarian for as long as possible. If your body is suited to it, eating RAW is a great way to go. As well, you can keep yourself and your family juiced after the iZO Cleanse by ordering any of the iZO Cleanse drinks ala carte. $100 minimum for delivery.

What’s the best way to prepare for a cleanse?

*There are two schools of thought on this. The most commonly held theory is that you should start eating lighter, moving toward a vegetarian and even vegan diet if possible for up to a week before you start your cleanse. Anything that goes towards lighter consumption is good. Sure, you may be inclined to go out with a bang the night before by satisfying your last desires for the material pleasure of solid foods. If that’s what’s necessary to get you into the cleanse, so be it. You gotta do what you gotta do. Just realize that if you party like a rockstar the night before you start a cleanse, you’ll certainly feel a more jarring effect the next morning.

What if I have heavy metals?

*If you have heavy metal toxicity, we recommend that you do the Heavy Metal Hardcore Juice Feast. The iZO Superfood Cleanse is also very well suited to cleansing the body of heavy metals.

What if I have Candida or are trying to break a sugar addiction?

*If you want to avoid sugars due to Candida or for overall health, we recommend you do the Sugar-Free iZO Juice Feast. The iZO Superfood Cleanse is relatively low in sugar already.

Is meditation a good thing to do while on a cleanse?

*YES! Meditation is a good thing any time. But ESPECIALLY on a cleanse. In fact, mediation becomes easier and more powerful the more one is cleansed of impurities. The clearer our inner selves are, the easier it is to become ONE with the Universe through meditation.

Can I continue to take my medication while cleansing?

*While there are licensed doctors on our advisory board, iZO Cleanse does not have any doctors on staff and therefore we cannot advise you on whether to continue use of medication or whether the iZO Cleanse will act as a contra-indicator to whatever medication you may be on. Please consult your physician.

Can I continue to take my vitamins and supplements while cleansing?

*Yes, but hopefully they’re organic, whole food based supplements and not synthetic imitations that are less effective with possible side effects.

Is colonic hydrotherapy a good thing to do while on a cleanse?

*Colonics are particularly effective in removing toxins from the body when one is on a cleanse. We strongly recommend getting at least one colonic during your cleanse and if possible, multiple colonics over the course of the cleanse.

Will I need to be sitting in the bathroom all day?

*No, you will not be on the toilet all day long. You may have more bowel movements than usual, and they will obviously be occurring at irregular times of the day. But this is a good thing. The whole point of cleansing is to get the toxins out. This is not like doing the salt water flush of the Master Cleanse where you DO have to be near a toilet.

Can I drink tea while on a cleanse?

*We provide numerous teas and drinks to keep your body nourished and hydrated. It is unlikely that you will want more liquids. But, if you do, drink up. It is best you drink non-caffeinated, organic tea though.

Can I drink water while on a cleanse?

*Yes, we encourage you to drink as much water as you like. But more importantly, try and drink all of the liquids that we provide for you. iZO Tea is high-octane water specially prepared with high quality Chinese herbs by a Taoist herbalist, so make sure you drink all of it if you’re on the Juice Feast. If, in addition to all the liquid we provide, you still want to drink water, by all means, drink as much as you like. Just make sure it’s purified.

Can I exercise while on a cleanse?

*Generally speaking, yes. However, your body is the ultimate boss on this and it’s up to you to listen to it and heed its needs. Perhaps you may not want to exercise as much as you normally would when eating a regular diet. If you’re just starting an exercise regimen for the first time in a while, you might want to take it easy on your body so as not to stress it our too much. Listen to your body and don’t push it beyond its limits.

Will I need to take off from work, or will I be able to function while cleansing?

*While it may be ideal to take the time off to mediate, reflect and clean up your house (literally and metaphorically), the iZO Cleanse is designed for on-the-go professionals who have no time to manage the ordeal of getting a liquid-only cleanse together. Our clients include the senior executives of large corporations, full-time moms, big time Hollywood producers, directors, and writers, doctors, fitness trainers, Yoga instructors, massage therapists, etc. None of them can afford to miss a beat even for a minute. If they can do it, then you can too!

Will I be full of energy or sluggish and tired while on a cleanse?

*Both! But mostly, you’ll feel great, and you’ll definitely feel great after the cleanse, assuming you exit properly. Days 2 and 3 can generally be challenging days where you may encounter patches of sluggishness and minor headaches. However, trust that these are merely patches that you will get through if you ride it out. If you’re going through Purgatory, keep going! You can always get a colonic or do an enema to help get through the rough patches.

Will I be hungry while cleansing?

*The most common response from iZO clients is how surprised they are that they’re not hungry. Most cleanses are designed to somehow beat hunger. Some of them do this by allowing you to eat (not a real cleanse in our opinion). Others do it by weathering the hunger storm of a depleted nutritional regimen. The iZO Cleanse on the other hand floods you with nutrients all day long so that it is more like a feast than a fast. Realize that you’re drinking over a gallon of liquid throughout the day. Some people can’t even get it all down; we’d rather err on the side of giving you too much than not enough. If however you are one of those people who’s metabolism is unusually fast, and you are working out or just plain working all the time, you can add the Power Player elective onto your iZO Juice Feast (extra protein drinks and juice), or you can add more superfoods to your drink on the iZO Superfood Cleanse.

What if I don’t want to lose weight?

*The iZO Cleanse is so nutritionally supportive that if you don’t have weight to lose, you won’t lose it. Your body is flooded with so many nutrients throughout the day on the iZO Cleanse that it will not lose weight that it’s not healthy to lose, i.e. muscle, etc.

After the cleanse, will I just put the weight back on?

*One of the most common compliments we get from our clients is how they lose weight that actually stays off. This has to do largely with the fact that the iZO Cleanse can actually re-calibrate the body to want to eat healthy foods. How do we do this? By flooding your body with natural whole-food based nutrients all day long, more than your body has probably ever experienced in its life. Of course, you will put the weight back on if you slip back into your negative eating habits, and it can happen just as quickly as it came off. So make sure you have a healthy exit strategy when re-entering the world of solids.

How much weight will I lose?

*Every ‘body’ is different, and therefore your weight-loss pace is dependent on your body history, and in particular how much weight you have to lose.

What are the effects of cleansing?

*Your body hasn’t stopped ‘going’ in many years, and on the contrary, it has been pummeled with all sorts of toxic atrocities and stress. You may experience minor headaches, sluggishness, fuzziness, and general discombobulation at points. Don’t worry- everything is going to be fine. And you can call us or email if you have an issue and someone will get back to you shortly. Every ‘body’ is different, with different histories and needs, which can change over time. Thus everybody has their own personal responses to cleansing at any given moment in time. That being said, most people experience the following from cleansing:

  • An increase in higher vibration energy
  • Quick weight loss
  • Healthier and younger looking skin
  • Increased focus and clarity
  • Increased sexual stamina
  • Healthier sleeping patterns
  • Calmness and increased peace of mind
  • Increased Self-confidence and positive outlook on life
  • Euphoric feelings of compassion and love
  • Renewed Spiritual attention
  • Release of unwanted emotional and physical baggage

What is actually happening with my body on a cleanse?

*When your body is without solid foods for 12 hours or more, it switches over into ‘cleanse’ mode during which it proceeds to excrete toxins and heal itself. It does this because you’ve taken the need for digestion away, thereby freeing up the body’s energy to be spent on healing itself. Ironically, although we eat food in order to gain energy, the digestion of solid foods uses up MOST of the body’s energy. When the digestion energy drain is taken away, the body can take that energy and focus it on self-healing and giving itself a surplus of energy. The iZO Cleanse is designed so that you look and feel your best!

Can I eat solids while cleansing?

*If you want to maximize the detox effects of your cleanse, you will not want to eat solid foods. Believe me, we provide you with plenty to ingest so you most likely won’t be hungry. However, if you do want to slow down the detox effects because they’re too strong for you at the moment, then by all means eat something light and healthy, like an apple or cucumber, or a lite salad. Or you can semi-cleanse with one lite raw, vegan meal per day in combination with the juices and teas. The iZO Cleanse combined with organic, vegan, raw nutrition is always a great thing. Of course, you need to honor your body’s wisdom, and do what you feel is best. Just know that if you eat solids, it will reduce the cleansing effects. Check out our Core Juice Feast which is perfect for partial cleansing.

I’ve never done a cleanse before. What can I expect?

*First, take a deep breath and be calm. Be thankful to yourself for taking such a major step in transformation of your health. The fact that you are reading this right now is proof that you’re going in the right direction! Next, realize that the iZO Cleanse is just about the best thing you can possibly do for your body: at the same time as flooding your body with valuable nutrients, you’re also giving your organs a rest! This translates into everything working better and looking better.
