Body detoxification is a very broad subject. It may include the specifics of detoxifying the colon, the liver, the kidneys and the blood. This writing will be confined to the generalities involved in the natural and effective detoxification resulting from dietary changes. There is much information on the internet regarding detoxification if you care to search for it.

There are some conventional medical attitudes that hold that there is no such thing as a toxic body. There are many alternative health advocates that consider detoxification to be a crucial element in the treating of degenerative diseases such as cancer and arthritis.

Virtually any improvement in the diet which includes more fresh fruits and vegetables is detoxifying. The body can slowly correct itself and be more healthy. When the diet mostly consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially if it is concentrated in a program such as Juice Fasting which is a powerful detoxification method, The results are usually immediate and dramatic. Similar results may be had by taking only water for an extended period of time. However, water fasting does not provide the healing nutrition required for a body to replace faulty cells with healthy ones.

It is recommended that a person contemplating an extensive detoxification program should place themselves under the supervision of a nutritionist. This should not be confused with a dietitian. For the purposes of this writing, a dietitian is one who follows the basic guide lines of the typical food pyramid, which is a one-size-fits-all plan which includes certain amounts of dairy products, meat, fruits, vegetables, grain etc. A nutritionist, for the purposes of this writing, is one who is specifically trained to evaluate the particular nutritional needs of an individual and can provide a juice fasting plan that considers the person’s vitality, extent and urgency of the treated disease, and constantly monitors progress. Some dietitians call themselves nutritionists, so be sure of the kind service provided.

Many Chiropractors and other naturopathic specialists are qualified nutritionists. Juice fasting can be successfully accomplished by the patient if they have the necessary understanding. Books can be found on the internet on the subject.

Some people ask me, “I have a blender, will that do?” The answer is “no”. The nutrition of fruits and vegetables is in the juice. A juicer separates the juice from the fiber. Although some fiber is beneficial, the amount of nutrition required is so large that it would be virtually impossible to eat the amount of food necessary. Another restriction is the eating of fruits and vegetables together. Vegetables require a longer digestion time than do fruits because of the vegetable fiber. However, fruit and vegetable juices may be take together because they do digest at the same rate. It is, therefore, permissible and palatable to juice fruits and vegetables together.

Be aware, you can and should have a severe reaction to the juice fast, especially if you are ill with a severe degenerative disease. This is called a Healing Crisis. The body is extremely conservative in its operation. It uses a protocol called homeostasis which, among other things, prevents the excessive poisoning of one organ or system by distributing toxins somewhat uniformly throughout the body. When the blood detoxifies, the other storage areas of the body start to unload their toxins into the blood stream. The stored toxins may consist of chemical products that have been absorbed into the body. Permanent wave chemicals and other beauty products are infamous for this kind of problem. Also, industrial solvents and such chemicals can be stored as well.

I talked to a practitioner who supervises such programs. One patient broke out in boils which were found to contain automobile painting products. He worked in an auto body shop. Prescription drugs stored in the body can be released into the blood stream, causing a drug overdose. It is important to have good supervision from a professionally trained practitioner if this kind of problem is to be successfully encountered.

You may feel worse before you feel better. You may experience the worst “flue” that you have ever had. The “rule of thumb” is to continue the fast until you have returned to normal for at least two days. If the patient is severely ill, this may not be practical or wise to continue. A practitioner may have the patient juice fast for three days a week until the process is complete. In a crisis, as when the patient is given a few weeks to live, the process may be accelerated and carefully supervised.

Carrot juice is the base of most juicing programs because carrots are uniquely nutritious. Other vegetables such as dark lettuce and beet roots and tops can be added. A half apple may be added as well, but, fruits should be used in moderation because of their high sugar content. Carrots also are high in sugar, but they are universally accepted as the best vegetable to use. The restriction of sugar is vital in treating cancer because cancer feeds on sugar.

Sugar also impairs the immune system. One “dose” of sugar can shut down the immune system for several hours.

The usual consumption of juice is 13 8 0z. glasses of freshly made juice per day. Some advocate the preparing of juice for the day and keeping it in airless (no air under the lid) covered container. My personal opinion is that freshly made juice is best, but if you don’t have the time to continually prepare the juice and clean the juicer, Preparing and storing the juice may be the best alternative.

Juice fasting can produce immediate and dramatic improvement. I have seen results producing a “cancer free” condition in as little as three weeks. I have no hard numbers to quote, but my observation and opinion is that of those who diligently apply these principles have at least an 80% chance of complete remission in two months.

In my observation, the biggest problem experienced in achieving success is an uncertain and inconsistent attitude toward the program. Often a juice fasting procedure is all that is needed for successfully treating cancer. Other components of a successful program will be presented under different topic headings. The elements of a comprehensive and successful program has so many parts to it that there is virtually no time in a day to do anything else. This is an all-out program. The patient should take a leave of absence from employment or school in order to concentrate their efforts entirely on he project. This is not something that you add to your life. This will be your life for a while.

It is important to realize the importance of following through when the crisis occurs. You will learn that the crisis will usually last for three days. You will also learn that in the beginning, a crisis will be preceded by a time of feeling very well. As the patient may have several such events, the tendency will be to feel better after the crisis has past.

After each event, the patient will arrive at a higher level of strength, energy, and well being than they have ever experienced before. They may require less sleep and be very rested. Their emotional and mental health will be much better. Usually, the first thing noticed is a dramatic improvement in eyesight.

I used to wear glasses. I had my eyes examined last week. My eyes are 20/20. I am 82 yeas old.
